Want 99% effective birth control: When used as directed, SEASONALE^® is 99% effective at preventing pregnancy. Just like the traditional birth control pill, SEASONALE^® is reliable, reversible birth control.
Want low-dose hormones: SEASONALE^® uses the same hormones as a traditional birth control pill — ethinyl estradiol (estrogen) and levonorgestrel (progestin) — which have been used for contraception for more than 40 years.
Wish you had more time between periods, and less of them: Because SEASONALE^® is an extended-regimen birth control pill, it gives you longer intervals between scheduled periods. As a result you can experience 4 scheduled periods a year, instead of the usual 13.
Like the once-daily convenience of a birth control pill: SEASONALE^® is taken once every day, just like a traditional birth control pill. SEASONALE^® tablets are indicated for the prevention of pregnancy.

PLEASE READ IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: While you get the convenience of 4 periods a year, you are also more likely to have spotting and breakthrough bleeding (which varies from slight spotting to a flow much like a regular period) than with a 28-day birth control pill. This is common and should decrease over time. During the first year, total bleeding days are similar to a traditional Pill. Like other birth control pills, SEASONALE^® has serious risks, which can be life threatening, including blood clots, stroke, and heart attack and are increased if you smoke cigarettes. Cigarette smoking increases the risk of serious side effects, especially if you are over 35. Women who use the Pill should not smoke. Some women should not use the Pill, including women who have blood clots, certain cancers, a history of heart attack or stroke, as well as those who are or may be pregnant. The Pill does not protect against HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
