Taking SEASONALE®

Whether you’re getting ready to start an extended regimen with SEASONALE® or have been using SEASONALE® for a while, it’s important to know what to do and what to expect. Being actively informed on what SEASONALE® is all about will help you get the most out of your prescription.

Starting and taking SEASONALE®

Sure, SEASONALE® has an extended regimen that is different from other birth control pills, but as with a traditional birth control pill, taking SEASONALE® the right way is the key to reliable pregnancy prevention.

Starting SEASONALE®

The SEASONALE® Pill Pack: Each SEASONALE® extended-regimen pill pack contains pills for one 3-month cycle: 84 pink active pills and 7 white inactive pills.

Sunday Start: You should take your first pink active pill on the Sunday after your period begins, even if you’re still bleeding. If your period begins on Sunday, start your pack that same day.

Extra Protection Week: As with other birth control pills, you must use another method of birth control (such as condoms or spermicide) for the first 7 days after you start your SEASONALE® prescription.

Taking SEASONALE®

Start With Pink Active Pills Then Take White Inactive Pills
What to do: Take an active pill every day for 3 months (84 pills). After you’ve taken all 84 active pills, take an inactive pill every day for a week (7 pills).
When: 1 Daily. Same time, each day. 1 Daily.
Remember: Try to take your pill at the same time each day, as this will help maximize protection against pregnancy. You should get your period during the 7 days you’re taking the white inactive pills.

Forget to take a pill?

Life happens. So sometimes you get out of your routine and forget important things, like taking SEASONALE®.
